EDUCATION

I am an advocate for public education. In order to maintain our commitment to K-12 education as required by Article 7 of the Wyoming Constitution, we must have a reliable income stream. This will require managing the 3.1 million acres of school trust land proactively. These lands were placed in trust for the public schools and should be managed to provide the funding needed for the School Foundation Grants.

CONSERVATION

Many politicians talk about natural resource protection and conservation. Few of them have preserved hundreds of acres of ranchland. Our family has. Rather than just talk the talk, we walk the walk, protecting for future generations, open space and wildlife habitat. I know how to make this happen and I will work to protect Teton County’s and Wyoming’s special landscapes.

DIVERSIFICATION

Teton County relies on tourism to float our economy. Wyoming relies on coal, oil and gas. Relying on a single sector as an economic driver, putting all of our eggs in one basket, is a recipe for the boom and bust cycle that we have experienced over the last 50 years. Diversifying our economy, both in Teton County and Wyoming in general will take creativity and entrepreneurship. The ENDOW initiative is a good start. I will continue to push for diversification even when our state and county boom again.
